Caveolin-2

DESCRIPTION: Caveolae are specialize plasma membrane associated organelles that participate in numerous cellular functions including endocytosis, potocytosis, transcytosis, signal transduction and cholesterol trafficking. The major proteins that form caveolae are the caveolins of which there are three major isoforms. Caveolin-2 has been shown to positively regulate caveolin-1-dependent caveolae biogenesis and that this phenomenon is contingent on the phosphorylation of caveolin-2 on serine 23 and 36.

SOURCE:

Rabbits were immunized with a synthetic peptide based on amino acid residues 18-31 of caveolin-2 phosphorylated on Ser-23.

 

FORM/STORAGE:

50 ug of purified IgG (0.5 mg/ml) depleted of phosphopeptide-specific IgG activity with 50% glycerol, 0.01% sodium azide and 1.0 mg/ml BSA. Store at -20º C. Avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles.

 

 

Phospho-serine 23 and 36 specific antibodies against caveolin-2:  30 mg of lysates from LNCaP cells expressing caveolin-2 were incubated without (lane 1) or with calf intestinal phosphatase (CIP; lane 2) resolved on 12% SDS-PAGE, transferred onto nitrocellulose membrane, and western blotted with the following caveolin-2 specific antibodies: total caveolin-2 (non-phospho serine 23 Ab Product # 22-3460; top panel), phospho-serine 23 (P-Ser 23 Product # 22-3461; middle panel), and phospho-serine 36 (P-Ser 36; Product # 22-3462;  bottom panel).
