Casein Kinase 1 Alpha

Chicken Polyclonal Antibody

PRODUCT #: 40-1294

DESCRIPTION: CKI alpha is a member of the serine threonine (ser/thr) protein kinase family, some members of which may be activated by specific small signaling molecules such as calcium, cAMP, cGMP while others appear to be cofactor independent. The casein kinases fall into the latter group and can be divided into two broad subgroups called CKI and CKII (or CK1 and CK2). The CKI family consists of several members; alpha, beta, gamma, delta and epsilon, some of which are encoded by more than one gene. The single mammalian CK1 alpha gene can generate four different proteins by alternate transcription. CK1 alpha proteins are phosphorylate acidic regions and control the degradation of their substrate molecules.
